I don't know about you, but I thought last night looked like it might be a trial run for putting HCJ at the grumpy end of the judges panel. Here's why:
- He wasn't afraid to slag contestants (see Casey)
- He proved he could take what Ellen dished out
- He showed that he would add value by taking a hands-on approach to the contestants (and not necessarily in a dirty way)
- He certainly can be easy on the eyes if you don't look directly at him (just like Simon).
- He'll give Ryan a run for his spray tan supplies.
- And his accent is cute.
Note for the future AI: It might be nice to rotate the people who sit in the grumpy chair every season. Here's my list for the next 7 seasons:
- Sue Sylvester
- Cyndi Lauper
- Meatloaf
- Coaster Punchman
- Alf
- Weird Al

I'd love to see Weird Al as a judge on American Idol. He wouldn't be around after 30 years if he didn't have a dead-on sense of what makes for pop success, but no way does he belong in the "grumpy chair." He can be snarky on occasion, but kind and encouraging comes more naturally to him. ~OE
Nothing would please me more than to sit on that panel! But I'd want you, Mindy June, Beckeye and Non-Vocabulum to be there too.
I take exception to your comment about Simon, however. NOTHING about that guy is easy on the eyes, no matter how brief your glance may be. Now Ryan on the other hand is someone I do find kind of attractive (I am ashamed to admit this) although if you look too directly at his face he does look like a weirdo. I mainly just like him because he's a big homo.
I came across your blog, it's nicely written! Feel free to check mine out if you want. Maybe we can follow one another? :)
